I told a bunch of people that I would start posting here, so I’m doing that. I’m not sure what I’m going to write about. I guess I’ll write about myself for now. Then we’ll see where it goes together. The real prize is the friends we made along the way.
Right now I’m learning how to sew. I’m not good at it yet, but I’m getting better. I’ve been patching up two pairs of jeans that I bought for thirty dollars each at a big clothing store. They’ve been wearing out really quickly after two years of wearing them. I thrifted some new ones to replace them that I can wear to work. Unfortunately, ratty jeans with visible mends aren’t professional attire, I guess.
Mending is part of my goal to learn embroidery, mostly because I want little flowers on all my clothes. Maybe it’ll be a side gig eventually, who knows!
I have a few of other little hobbies that might eventually become a side gig. I make jewelry, mostly earrings, but I like to make pendants too by wrapping wire around rocks. I also make stamps out of linoleum, I make postcards with them. I also have been known to make a painting now and then, but they aren’t very good. Painting will probably not become a side gig.
I have lots of hobbies that will definitely not become side gigs too. I have a longboard that I take on a little ride now and then. I like to hike, or take walks, or otherwise just be outside when I can. I love to ride my bike, a little fixie that my brother gave me a while ago. I used to ride fifty miles every few weekends during summer, but since I’ve taken a sit-at-a-desk job I haven’t been able to do that. Something something sedentary lifestyle bad.
Intentional movement has become important because of the sit-at-a-deskness of my life. Intentionality in general has become an important theme. Intentionally being social, intentionally being crafty, intentionally finding time to write things.
So, here I am, intentionally writing. I hope you are intentionally reading this.
